4 Pirate on the Island

Nock-nock was the sound of the door to Jack’s cabin. It was Gibbs giving the news of the successful docking of the ship. The Black Pearl was finely docked on the island of Fog. The island was bustling with people. Working and talking, they all were busy with one thing or another.

Jack got off of the ship first and examined the dock. “I fell lucky, Mr. Gibbs.” He said to his friend. “Look at all these people,” He looked around, “look at all the women!” he added seeing a group of girls talking to some sailors. “Me thinks I’m going to enjoy myself.”

“Don’t get ahead of yourself, Jack.”  Replied Mr. Gibbs. He looked over at some young men fighting with swords, “look over there, this is the resend we came, is it not, you need new men and not a new slap on your face.”

“Aw, what fun are you?” said Jack walking to the men. “Hows about I get some good men, then I get some good fun, savvy?”

“Aye, Jack, That seems a good and well plan to me.” Said Gibbs with a smile.

The two walked over to the five men fighting with swords. They had great talent and skill with there weapons, slashing at one another with such broot force it could cut a man in half. The five were only armatures on the island too; slackers that could probable not even pass the final to use the things. The most skilled were usually off teaching the next generation the skill and craft of the swords men. On Fog, even the women learned to sword fight. The test was lowered to a smaller level, but the girls were amazing for any other island. Some of the better sword fighters were female.

“Good morning.” Said the caption. The men stopped swinging there swords to look at him. “Might I have a word with you ‘gents?” Said Jack with a smug smile.

“Jasmine!” called someone through the window. It was Lexxi; she was accompanied by Samantha who was starting to get tired of waiting. “Are you ever coming down? We have been out here for almost an hour.”

Jasmine didn’t seam to respond.” Fine, were leaving.” Said Samantha. She pulled on the coaler of Lexxi’s dress and started walking.

“Oh, well we will be at the pond if you want to come out.” Said lexxi before she got dragged out of ear shout.

When she thought they were gone, Jasmine got out of the house and went to the docks. She would come once every day by herself. She would come hoping for a pirate to be there to take her away. She kept a bag of belongings with a friend who was a deck hand at the docks. He would tell her if a new ship docked when his supervisor was away. Even if he was not allowed to show the ship log to anyone, he would show it to her. I think it was that he felt sorry for her, but it was that they were friends that kept it going. He was the only person on the island that didn’t laugh at her when she told him about how she wanted to be a pirate.

“Why Miss. Silver, your late today.” Said her deck hand friend, Edward. He was a boy around her age, maybe 16 or 17. He had short brown heir and eyes as black as coal. He had a scare on the lid of his left eye that seamed to disappear when it hit the eye and then kept going on the other side.

“Hello, Edward.” Said she. She smiled at him and then quickly looked around. “Is your supervisor here?”

“No, he had to collect a fee from a ship that just docked, actually.” Edward looked toward the docks. “Look at it. Isn’t it brilliant?”

Jasmine looked at the dock and looked for a new ship. She saw a ship with black sails, and black finish all over it. It looked like it was burnt, and it was missing a name on the side. It was an amazingly beautiful ship. Jasmine looked back away from the ship and found Jared Bissly, the dock master, talking to a man who was obviously not paying any attention.

“Jasmine, I have a felling that man is a pirate.” Interrupted Edward. “You know that famous Caribbean ship?”

“Yes I do. I was the one who told you about it, wasn’t I?” Retorted Jasmine. She looked back toward the ship. She looked it once over and then smiled. “This would explain the lack of the ships name, then, also the point of not having a flag.” She looked over to Edward and motioned him close so she could talk in a whisper. “This, my friend, is the legendary ship of the Caribbean. This is the Black Pearl…….. If I’m right”

Edward smiled and laughed a bit; stifling himself so he would not draw attention. “Should I get your bag?”

“No, not yet, I need to get the man’s attention with my plan before I can get off of this island and go on to bigger and better things.” Jasmine said looking back to the pirate ship. She watched the men talking. Jared Bissly was apparently yelling, for she could hear a lot of the words. The other man was not even getting upset. He was most likely used to this treatment.

The thing about docking your ship was that the dock was not yours. You would be on someone else’s dock so you would have to pay to use it. Along with the pay you would have to give a name for you and the ship. Because he was a pirate he would be hung if he gave his real name so he would come up with a pseudonym for both him and the ship, but only if the ship was known as a pirate ship, in this case if Jasmine was right, it was one of the most well know in all of the Caribbean.

Jasmine inched closer. “Jasmine, don’t get too close.” Whispered Edward. She shrugged his words of advice off to further eavesdrop on the men. She got closer and closer, hoping that the men didn’t notice her. The lack of things to hide behind was the most troubling thing about her sneaking up on them. She would most likely get caught, but she would at lest get some of the conversation.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Jack was ignoring the yelling man, he noticed something in the corner of his eye. He turned his head slightly to see what it was. It happened to be a girl. One that was trying to apparently hide from sight and was doing an okay job of it considering the lack of things to hide behind. He wondered what she was trying to hide from, and then noticed that she was getting closer to him and the man named Jared, that was talking to him.

Noticing that he didn’t hear half of the conversation he started to talk. “Here, fine, I will give you the 20 Escudoes.” He went into his purse and looked inside. He only hade 18 Escudoes and 8 Reale. This would never work; he thought for a second or two and started to form a plan to trick the man. “Oh I am sorry, I only have 18 Escudoes. Do you mind if I ask a friend for some money.”

“Well, how do I know you will not run off?” Said the man with a stern face.

“You can take my 18 and my hat as ransom, savvy?” said Jack with a hell of a poker face on. You know he was crying inside for his hat.

“All right, but speed it up.” Said the man as he pocketed the 18 Escudoes. Jack watched the man place it in his purse before he began to levee. When the Escudoes were away he walked by the man and slit his purse, then walked toward Gibbs. Gibbs, watching, whetted for his queue and toke the money from Jack as he toke out his purse. Now he pocketed this and gave Jack the 2 he needed along with a piece of cloth. Jack walked back and hit the man’s side. As he said sorry and straitened the man out he slipped the cloth into the hole of his purse to avoid the money coming out and alerting the man that he was robbed.

“Here you are the last 2 you need.” Jack said.

Jared pocketed the rest and called for a boy. The boy came to his side and toke out a quill to write. “Alright ser, if you don’t mind tell use your name and your ship’s name so we can finish this.”

Jack smiled and toke off his hat in formality. “I am caption Smith, caption Jon Smith.” He said as he bowed.  “And my ships name is The Wicked Wench.” The boy wrote it down and then left. The man called Jared then walked off and Jack was left alone.

“Looking tired I see” said Gibbs walking back to Jack’s side. “As you talked away, I added 3 of the 5 men as deck hands.”

“You couldn’t get them all?” Said Jack with a sigh. “I thought we sourly got them all.” Jack looked over to the side were he saw the girl. She was listening intently to the conversation.

“…well that’s what you get for being pira…….” Jack stopped Gibbs just in time to stop him from saying ‘pirates’. “What?!” Said Gibbs in a mad tone.

“Look over there.” Jack tilted his head toward the direction of the girl. “Lets levee, we can look for more men in town.” Jack started to walk away, the girl fallowed.
